2007: Celebrate the Rahway River
The Rahway River is the quintessential urban river of New Jersey where nature gave way to the cradle of America’s industry and earliest cities. Early colonists and seafarers spoke of the abundance of wildlife, a sea of meadows and mature forests that graced the shores of the Rahway River.
Today, a new awakening is finding fertile ground in the
communities of the Rahway River watershed. From Edison in
Middlesex County to the Oranges of Essex County and the ‘green
necklace’ of Union County in between, increased awareness of the
natural resource values and the cultural fabric that is the
Rahway River is taking root.
